COVID 19 crisis may limit access to menstrual products. Last week, WoMena performed a rapid assessment on the impact of COVID 19 on menstruating girls and women in Uganda. The full report is to be released this Menstrual Hygiene week, but preliminary results show:
- 35% of participants (N=51) are experiencing changes in their menstruation (e.g. irregular and painful periods) – mostly due to stress.
- Participants have experienced a 17-33% price increase in disposable pads
- 34% reported difficulties in accessing menstrual products
- Beneficiaries who received MHM training and menstrual products reported more positive feedback in terms of getting access to menstrual products
