2013 Gulu schoolgirl menstrual cup study
Recognizing that there is a need for evidence regarding the impact of MHM on reproductive infections and school attendance, WoMena did a school-based case-control study (menstrual cups in 2 schools versus traditional MHM methods in 1 school) with 174 school girls in Gulu, Uganda. The study was facilitated by the Red Cross and Gulu University. The study explored acceptance of menstrual cups amongst young girls, the impact of use of menstrual cups on school attendance and risk of reproductive infections using quantitative and a qualitative methods. The results are under analysis and will be submitted for publication in 2015.
