Recognizing that there is a need for evidence regarding the impact of MHM on reproductive infections and school attendance, WoMena did a school-based controlled trial (menstrual cups in 2 schools versus traditional MHM methods in 1 school) with 194 school girls in Gulu, Uganda. The study was facilitated by the Red Cross and Gulu University. The study explored acceptance of menstrual cups amongst young girls, the impact of use of menstrual cups on school attendance and risk of reproductive infections using quantitative and a qualitative methods. The results are under analysis and will be submitted for publication in 2015.
